I feel emotionally to see the lives of people in the rural areas as it reminds me of my childhood. the time when we did not have enough schools and teachers. I was put in a room with one teacher who was teaching two classes on the spot, on his left was Grade 2 students and on his right my group Grade 1. Then I stayed in the same grade for about three years because we did not have higher grades until we had our senior citizens who got trained to be teachers. They gave back to the society through teachings their next generations. Coincidentally, the former governor of Kandal Province who was born in our village donated two buildings. The new door was opened for many of us because of his great heart.
When I went to secondary school I needed to get up at 4 AM and cooked my food and packed for my school day. I needed to leave home and ride a bike at 5 AM so I could reach my school at 7 am. The road was super bad at that time.
When I moved to high school I stayed in a Buddist pagoda for three years. It was a great time for me to learn some basic religious lessons at the same time I was studying for my high school diploma.
When I finished my high school my parents could not afford for my university. Luckily, I was supported by two heroes of Cambodia who just passed away a few years ago. They sent me to a great university they actively supported “Maharishi Vedic University – MVU” in Preyveng Veng province for my bachelor degree. At MVU I had the greatest opportunity to learn and practice Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM Sidhi. After I had a few years experiences with NGOs in the areas of management and leadership I asked them for a scholarship with the same university for a Master of Business Administration (MBA). These great heroes had and still have so much influence on me in the areas of leadership and humanitarians.
My key message here is no matter where are you coming from. You can change your life for better by changing yourself. Treat every opportunity in life as a god-given gift. Be a good role model for yourself and other. Working hard to build and product your reputation. Always give back to the society such as your time, energy, money, skills and experience to uplift the welling being of other human beings. I get to where I am now because there are people with great hearts and souls who had given and are still giving back to the society for the betterment of the next generation.
